Today on Mother’s Day, I want to take a minute today to tell you about an endangered animal.
The North Atlantic right whale, pictured above, is on the verge of extinction with about 400 whales remaining in the world. Every year, these majestic creatures feed off the waters of Massachusetts in the Cape Cod Bay after leaving their calving grounds in the waters off Georgia and Florida.
In 2018, not one single North Atlantic right whale calf was born, but today on Mother’s Day, I’m delighted to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to the mama whales of the seven calves that were born this season. These mama whales and their calves represent our best hope to bring the right whale back from the brink of extinction, but they need our help.
