District Director Elena Cohen recently visited Quabbin Harvest Food Co-op and took a tour of their beautiful store in Orange. Elena is pictured below (on the left) with deeply dedicated volunteers and board members Cathy Stanton, MaryEllen Kennedy, Pat Larson, and powerhouse store manager Julie Davis.

She got to see the row of local produce sourced through Marty’s Local out of Deerfield and learn about the many great things that come out of the co-op, like their Community Shares Program, which distributed over 3,400 no-cost produce shares in 2022, averaging 65 per week, to low-income households in Orange and Athol.

Quabbin Harvest’s work not only feeds the community but also supports the local economy. In 2022 alone, their purchases for the Community Shares Program put more than $50,000 back into the local food economy.

And, if you haven’t tasted their chai or the food from their kitchen, you’re in for a treat!

Many thanks to Cathy, Pat, MaryEllen and Julie for hosting Elena and sharing their many successes, plans for growth, and current needs with her. We love Quabbin Harvest and look forward to continuing to support their transformative work.

The Quabbin Harvest Food Co-op is located at 12 N Main St in Orange and is open Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
