On September 27, 2019, the Joint Committee on Public Health held a formal oversight hearing about food security and nutrition. Panelists testified about the food system and its impact on public health and spoke about food as medicine, food deserts and healthy food access, the role of agriculture in public health, and school food programming. Panelists, legislators, and the public discussed how state, federal, and non-profit programs work together to improve the health of the Commonwealth.
