On October 30, $24.6 million in Food Security Infrastructure Grants (FSIG) were announced. These grants support farmers, food production and distribution, and help ensure fresh local food is available to all residents.

In the Hampshire, Franklin, Worcester district, 22 organizations received grants, totaling $3.4 million in funding coming to our region to support our food systems.

Each year, I prioritize funding for FSIG in my budget advocacy — and this is why. I am deeply grateful to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources for administering the FSIG program, and to my colleagues in the legislature who recognize the importance of investing in our food systems and support this funding.
