Elena CohenDistrict Director
Pronouns: She, her, hers

Elena Cohen grew up in Northampton. She attended Mount Holyoke College, where she majored in Critical Social Thought, and earned her Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College’s Silberman School, focusing on Community Organizing, Planning, and Development. Prior to returning to western Massachusetts to join Senator Comerford’s team, Elena lived in New York City and worked at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, Facing History and Ourselves, and StoryCorps.

She believes people make government work and couldn’t be more pleased to be on Senator Comerford’s team, where that belief is embodied in everything we do. In Senator Comerford’s office, Elena works on municipal and regional issues, supports applications to state grant programs from our district, supervises our district interns, and is a main point of contact for our district’s municipal officials.

Elena lives in Greenfield with her partner and their two cats. She enjoys hiking, reading, art, and spending time with her friends and family.
