Local Contribution Study Public Comment Deadline

As mandated by Section 21 of the Student Opportunity Act, the Department of Revenue (DOR) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) are doing a report on “the equity, predictability and accuracy of the method of determining each municipality’s ability to contribute toward education funding and the calculation of each municipality’s required local contribution.”
They also must report on “the impact of Proposition 2.5 on the ability of municipalities to make their required local contributions in the short-term and long-term and recommendations to mitigate the constraints of Proposition 2.5.”
DESE is soliciting public comment on the issues outlined in Section 21. All public comment must be submitted through this online survey no later than October 16, 2020. DESE will review all comments and post them on this website and will respond to common themes raised in the comments in the final report.
