Joint Committee on Education Hearing

The Joint Committee on Education will will hold a virtual hearing on bills related to accountability and assessment (bills listed here), including the below bills sponsored by Senator Comerford.

We invite you to submit testimony and/or testify on bills you care about. Testimony on bills in this hearing should be addressed to Committee Co-Chairs Senator Jason Lewis and Representative Alice Peisch.

To sign up to offer live remote testimony, please fill out this form by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17. Registration is required for oral testimony and late registrants will not be accepted. Upon completion of registration, a confirmation will appear on the webpage that your registration was successful. You will not receive email confirmation. Further instructions on how to participate, including a link for the remote hearing, will be provided by Legislative Information Services shortly before the hearing. Testimony will be limited to 3 minutes.

Written testimony can be emailed to House Chair Alice Peisch at Alice.Peisch@mahouse.gov and Senate Chair Jason Lewis at Jason.Lewis@masenate.gov, and please copy Sen. Comerford (jo.comerford@masenate.gov). When sending written testimony, the subject line should read “Education Committee Testimony, [Bill Number]”.

This hearing will be conducted via Microsoft Teams and livestreamed on the Legislature’s website. This hearing will be recorded and archived. By registering to submit testimony, you agree to release to the public all information you have included. All written and oral testimony submitted to the Committee is public information provided upon request. The Committee will make reasonable efforts to ensure the email address or other contact information provided will not be published. Do not include any information you do not intend to make public, such as medical or other personally identifiable information.

Bills will be heard in an order as determined by the Chairs. Prior to the hearing, the list of bills on the hearing page will be updated to reflect the order in which they will be heard, so please check back.
