DESCRIPTION:As mandated by Section 21 of the Student Opportunity Act\, the Department of Revenue (DOR) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) are doing a report on “the equity\, predictability and accuracy of the method of determining each municipality’s ability to contribute toward education funding and the calculation of each municipality’s required local contribution.”  \nThey also must report on “the impact of Proposition 2.5 on the ability of municipalities to make their required local contributions in the short-term and long-term and recommendations to mitigate the constraints of Proposition 2.5.” \nDESE is soliciting public comment on the issues outlined in Section 21. All public comment must be submitted through this online survey no later than October 16\, 2020. SUMMARY:A Tribute(ary) to the Connecticut River
DESCRIPTION:On October 19 state elected officials\, state officials\, and environmental\, cultural\, and Indigenous leaders will join a day-long paddle down the majestic Connecticut River. \nThe goal of the event\, complete with the hashtag #WeLoveOurRiver\, is to raise public awareness about the Connecticut River’s importance to the environment\, farms\, the economy\, and culture\, as well as its significance to indigenous communities. \nThe event will kick off in Northfield at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until about 5 p.m. as paddlers arrive in Northampton. At stops in Northfield\, Gill\, Sunderland\, Hatfield\, and Northampton\, participants will offer brief remarks about the River’s importance. These remarks will be livestreamed via Senator Jo Comerford’s Facebook page.
