DESCRIPTION:Advocates from numerous organizations\, including Worcester County Food Bank\, Greater Boston Food Bank\, Food Bank of Western MA (Food Bank Coalition of Massachusetts)\, Children’s Health Watch\, MA Food System Collaborative\, Mass Law Reform Institute\, Massachusetts Public Health Association\, Project Bread and the Worcester Food Policy Council are hosting a Hunger Action Month Lobby Day and a “Stand Strong for the Right to Food” Rally. These organizations will be conducting legislative visits to lobby for bills related to combatting hunger and reducing food insecurity and will also be hosting a rally to draw attention to these action items and opportunities to combat hunger in the Commonwealth. \n\n\nHunger Action Month Lobby Day Agenda \n10:45am- 12:00 p.m. Advocates’ Legislative Visits: Advocates will be visiting offices to meet on legislation \n12:15pm-1:00 p.m. “Stand Strong for the Right to Food” \nRally on the State House Steps. Representatives from these organizations\, constituents and other allies will be rallying for Food System Caucus priority and endorsed legislation as well as other means to combat hunger in the Commonwealth and share personal testimonies on hunger. \n  \nBelow are the Food System Caucus’ priority bills and the Food System Caucus’ endorsed bills\, which the rally participants will be advocating for on the 9/24.

SUMMARY:DOER SMART Program Review
DESCRIPTION:Representatives Natalie Blais\, Mindy Domb\, and Senator Jo Comerford will host the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) in Amherst to present their review of the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program and accept public comment on the new regulations. \nThe SMART Program is the newest program established to support and incentivize the development of solar in Massachusetts. In accordance with the regulations that established the SMART program\, the Department of Energy Resources must undertake a review of the program once 400 megawatts of solar capacity have been accepted into the program. The Department of Energy Resources recently completed its review\, and at the invitation of Representatives Natalie Blais and Mindy Domb\, and Senator Jo Comerford members of DOER’s Renewable Energy Division will hold a stakeholder meeting in Amherst to present their findings and take public comment. \nMore information about the SMART Program can be found here. \nPublic comments can be submitted electronically to DOER.SMART@mass.gov\, with the subject “400 MW Review Public Comments.” Comments should be submitted to DOER by Friday\, September 20\, 2019.
