SUMMARY:Rural School Districts Commission Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The special commission to study and make recommendations concerning the long-term fiscal health of rural school districts will hold a meeting. \nThe commission shall make recommendations for: (i) improving and expanding the rural school aid grant program and feasibility of including a low and declining student enrollment factor within the existing rural school aid formula; (ii) establishing and including a low and declining student enrollment factor within the foundation budget; (iii) expanding the use of technology to deliver instruction; (iv) enabling operating efficiencies; (v) exploring the use of shared services; (vi) optimizing schools and school districts; (vii) encouraging improvement of fiscal health and educational outcomes; and (viii) other matters related to educational opportunities in rural areas. \nFor participant access to meeting Teams link\, please contact Stephen.Maher@masenate.gov for login credentials. \nFor non-participants\, the hearing will be livestreamed on MALegislature.gov. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Joint Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing on bills relative to health insurance\, including the below bill filed by Senator Comerford. The full list of bills can be viewed here. \n\n\n\nBill\nBill Title\nSponsor\n\n\n\n\nS.637\nAn Act to improve the health insurance prior authorization process\nJo Comerford\n\n\n\nWe invite you to submit written testimony and/or testify on bills you care about. Testimony on bills in this hearing should be addressed to Committee Co-Chairs Senator Brendan Crighton and Representative James Murphy. \nAdvanced registration to present oral testimony is required. Those wishing to register should fill out this form no later than Thursday\, November 4 at 5:00 p.m. Individuals who have registered to testify will receive further instructions on how to participate. An email containing a link for the hearing will be mailed to registered participants approximately one day prior to the hearing.  The Chairs will limit testimony to 3 minutes per speaker. Please be advised that the schedule and agenda are subject to change at the discretion of the chair per Committee rules. Constituents planning to testify are encouraged to alert Sen.
